Today's theme is textured paper. For this technique I crumpled water color paper. Brushed on twinkling h2os and then ran the paper across a brown stamp pad to high light the raised creases. I then stamped leaves with green ink and embellished with words and a wire swirl. The "nest" is made with melted paper bag and string. The image is a combination of ARTchix studios faux stamp collections cut out to create the bird.Friday, January 4, 2008

Encaustic Collage - Music Muse

Here is my first try at encaustic collage. I enjoyed working on this piece so much I will be doing more of them and selling them in my esty store.
I first painted the canvas with acrylic paints in the colors of the paper I used. I collage the paper pieces to the canvas then added dyed gauze to a few places. I waxed the whole piece then placed the gold string throughout the collage. I waxed again.

Altered Books
Book of Love
This book is my tribute to love. My goal was to make it a little soft with Victorian undertones. I used a child's chunky book. First I used gesso on all the pages to help give my images something easier to adhere to and then I let my imagination run wild.
CoverI created the woman in the bottom right hand corner with stamps and polymer clay. (yup, one more medium I dabble in)
Pages 2 and 3A woman in the garden waiting for true love. I placed a "veil" over her face with netting and adorned her hat with some feathers.
She has found her true love and vowed to spend the rest of her life with him. The letters were made out of polymer clay.
Pages 4 and 5A woman in thought. Romantic music is playing in the background.
Of course there are always love letters and post cards of far away places.
Pages 6 and 7Nothing says love like Valentines!
Pages 8 and 9The poetry is "You Are To Me" and "Love Is A Might Power" Some of the work is my polymer clay buttons.
Back CoverI couldn't resist this cupid image. He looks so innocent. It is only a matter of time before his bow and arrow strike!
I outlined his arrow, feathers and wings with metallic gold paint.
