Altered Books

Book of Love

This book is my tribute to love. My goal was to make it a little soft with Victorian undertones. I used a child's chunky book. First I used gesso on all the pages to help give my images something easier to adhere to and then I let my imagination run wild.

Cover
I created the woman in the bottom right hand corner with stamps and polymer clay. (yup, one more medium I dabble in)

Pages 2 and 3

A woman in the garden waiting for true love. I placed a "veil" over her face with netting and adorned her hat with some feathers.
She has found her true love and vowed to spend the rest of her life with him. The letters were made out of polymer clay.

Pages 4 and 5

A woman in thought. Romantic music is playing in the background.

Of course there are always love letters and post cards of far away places.

Pages 6 and 7

Nothing says love like Valentines!

Pages 8 and 9

The poetry is "You Are To Me" and "Love Is A Might Power" Some of the work is my polymer clay buttons.

Back Cover
I couldn't resist this cupid image. He looks so innocent. It is only a matter of time before his bow and arrow strike!

I outlined his arrow, feathers and wings with metallic gold paint.

Theme Thursday

This week's theme was to use the "number 1" in my art. I thought I would give a tag a try.
Here is my 1 Warrior Fairy

I had so much fun making this piece. I did the collage on foam board. I printed a script on a piece of vellum paper and placed this lovely woman in the foreground. The colors remind me of spring.
