Today's Theme is Purple

It reminds me of this poem:

Warning - When I Am an Old Woman I Shall Wear Purple

When I am an old woman, I shall wear purple
with a red hat that doesn't go, and doesn't suit me.
And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves

and run my stick along the public railings
and make up for the sobriety of my youth.

You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat
and eat three pounds of sausages at a go
or only bread and pickles for a week
and hoard pens and pencils and beer nuts and things in boxes.

But now we must have clothes that keep us dry
and pay our rent and not swear in the street
and set a good example for the children.
We must have friends to dinner and read the papers.
But maybe I ought to practice a little now?
So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised
When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.

A Submission to Stampers Sampler

This was a fun challenge. I was required to use a "pocket template" and create a piece of art. The other requirement was to use a stamp. I used Michael Strong's fan stamp. Cut out the inside and folded paper to give it more of a fan look. I used a collage page from a Somerset Studio magazine and cut out the sewing images. I call it "Grammy's Sewing Kit".

The theme this week is Whimsy. Not too sure if my idea of whimsy is the same as everyone's. If nothing else, I'm thinking you'll at least get a chuckle.

A Little Twist on Resolutions

This is a page spread I did for an altered artbook group I belong to on Yahoo. I really haven't made any "resolutions" for the new year and thought I would put a little fun into resolutions.
The comments from the cats are a little hard to read. They are trying to come to a resolution around which hat they all like the best.

4 x 4 Friday

Today's theme is textured paper. For this technique I crumpled water color paper. Brushed on twinkling h2os and then ran the paper across a brown stamp pad to high light the raised creases. I then stamped leaves with green ink and embellished with words and a wire swirl. The "nest" is made with melted paper bag and string. The image is a combination of ARTchix studios faux stamp collections cut out to create the bird.

Today's theme is quotes. I can really relate to this one by Louisa May Alcott.

Wednesday Stamper

Today's theme is Gothic Arch.

I used a stamp from Terry Medaris. He has some really fun stamps.

Bohemian Altered Book

I've always wanted to do something with a gypsy theme. There is romance, music, fortune telling, travel to distant lands, theater, something a little naughty, and art in a gypsy's life. I had a blast making this book. So here's a little something from an artist with a little gypsy in her soul!

I had created some faces with Polymer Clay and incorporated them in playing cards. I created a nitch in the last page to put these in.

Valentines Day ATC Swap

Here are some ATC cards I did for a Valentines Day Swap. Some of the images I used were from an Enchanted Mercantile CD.

Encaustic Collage - Music Muse

Here is my first try at encaustic collage. I enjoyed working on this piece so much I will be doing more of them and selling them in my esty store.

I first painted the canvas with acrylic paints in the colors of the paper I used. I collage the paper pieces to the canvas then added dyed gauze to a few places. I waxed the whole piece then placed the gold string throughout the collage. I waxed again.
